Kelly Hicks, MS, OTR/L graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Minor in Sociology in 2005.  Following several years of working with children with Autism Spectrum and Related Disorders at the Marcus Autism Center of Atlanta, Kelly decided to pursue a career in occupational therapy.  Kelly received her Master of Occupational Therapy from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia in 2015.  After completing a Level 2 fieldwork requirement in the Gwinnett County School District in Atlanta, Kelly transferred and completed her fieldwork education in Colorado at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in the Spring of 2015.  Following graduation and licensure as an occupational therapist, Kelly accepted a position working as a school based occupational therapist for Jeffco Public Schools, in Golden, Colorado.  Kelly is entering her third school year working for Jeffco, and enjoys the variety of opportunities that she has to work with many different student populations and teams of professionals.  While she is a new practitioner, Kelly has assumed several leadership roles such as being a member of Jeffco’s Occupational Therapy Advisory Committee as well as serving as the PR/Fundraising Representative for the Occupational Therapy Association of Colorado (OTAC).  Kelly is also a lifetime member of Pi Theta Epsilon.  In her free time, Kelly enjoys traveling, hiking, crafting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.  Kelly would like to encourage new practitioners to relax, remain open minded, reach out for help when needed, and to take time to enjoy and appreciate the learning opportunities that you will encounter as you begin this wonderful journey!
