Carolyn Pluta is a graduate of Washington University Program of Occupational Therapy in St. Louis, MO. Her fieldwork courses include pediatrics, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, SNF/LTC, and working on the spinal cord unit of Craig Hospital. Her career as a licensed occupational therapist began at Julia Temple Healthcare Center under the mentorship of Patricia Fantauzzo COTA/L, and she continues to serve as an advocate for individuals and families impacted by dementia. Her article, "Familiar Pathways: Learning from the Story of Marty" is a reflection on her experiences providing OT services for a young gentleman with dementia, which was published in the August 2016 issue of OT Practice magazine. Carolyn is fluent in Spanish and has had multiple educational experiences in South America to learn about international health care systems, including interpreting for physicians in Honduras, a
medical internship in Chile, and providing occupational therapy services to children with
disabilities in Guatemala. She enjoys snowboarding, rock climbing, traveling, and taking her two dogs along on her adventures
